Phone Interview
Employers often call as a first or early point of contact to collect more information about you and pick a time for the in-person or virtual interview .
Make sure your personal voicemail is set up and that your mailbox is not full ( so that a message can be left ). Keep your voicemail box greeting short and professional in case calls are missed . (“ Hello , you ’ ve reached [ your name ]. I ’ m away from the phone right now . Please leave your name and number and I ’ ll return your call as soon as possible .”) Any messages left in your voicemail box should be returned within 24 hours , even if you ’ ve accepted another position . This shows politeness and helps maintain a positive relationship with that employer . Be enthusiastic but professional when talking on the phone .
