New ACC Tools Available For Both Clinicians and Patients
The ACC recently launched new tools for both clinicians and patients as part of its Valvular Heart Disease initiatives . The Mitral Regurgitation ( MR ) Health System Tool guides clinicians in identifying patients with MR and referring them for advanced treatment , while determining the next steps in treatment . On the other side , the Mitral Regurgitation ( MR ) Patient Tool and the Aortic Stenosis ( AS ) Patient Tool help patients understand an MR or AS diagnosis . Find out more at ACC . org / VHDTools .

The JACC Journals website has been redesigned , bringing a fresh perspective to the journals ’ vast content . The new design cuts through the clutter and showcases the content in a format that ’ s cleaner , clearer and easier to read . Certified Patient Case :
A previously healthy 20-year-old man presents in the context of a recent episode of loss of consciousness while playing soccer at his local university . He reports that while he used to compete at a collegiate level , his shortness of breath has recently limited his ability to continue playing for longer than 10 minutes . Additionally , he has noted an unintentional 15-pound weight gain , bilateral ankle swelling , difficulty breathing if he does not sleep with at least two pillows , and experiencing intermittent symptoms of some palpitations that last 1-3 minutes in duration , but tend to self-resolve .
