The figure below shows the operation of the new solar system in Ross
Walker Lodge generating 63.8 kilowatt hours of electrical energy on a
partly cloudy day in February 2020. The wiggly line shows the electricity
use in the house over a 24 hour period. The grey shaded area shows
that between breakfast and dinner time the house ran entirely on solar
power (saving electricity at around 20 cents per kilowatt hour), while ex-
porting the surplus green area to ActewAGL at 8 cents per kWh. The
spikey shape of the green area results from clouds passing over. The in-
sert is the instantaneous situation at 11:30 that morning.
