COO Report Continued …….
Our Chairperson & Manager meets with all the parents regularly to give any updates on
the Sponsorship program and to discuss any problems. Such problems may include gang
activity, HIV, drugs, bullying, poor school attendance. Cararoo remains very strict in
enforcing any procedures that are not being followed. This year we terminated 8 children
from the sponsorship program for various offences—a very sad but necessary outcome.
Both parents and children must understand their responsibility to those who are
generously paying to give them a better future.
Which is a good way to say how proud I am of Judy Ann, who graduated college and
started work with a major ‘IT company.
In closing, when I started the Cararoo Foundation, I said “If we can get 1 child out of this
environment, my work is done.” In addition to Judy Ann, we have 2 more children
attending college and we hope, they too, will secure good employment.
We thank all our sponsors and the people who donate whatever, whenever they can. It
makes me feel really good that all the hard work is starting to pay off. Please continue
your support.
On behalf of the Cararoo Board, the children and myself, we wish you and your families
all the very best for Christmas and a very happy and more peaceful 2015. Maurie.
Judy Ann - great achievement and excellent role model
Over the last few years, regular readers of our Newsletter would have seen us mention Judy Ann, our first student
to attend college and undertake a three year IT course. We were fortunate to have an Australian based company
ISphere Global, with officers in Melbourne, Manila and Singapore, offer Judy Ann work experience during the time
she spent in college. When Judy Ann graduated in April 2014, ISphere Global offered her a position in their IT
Support group which provides support for a number of large Australian companies from their Manila office.
The cost of sending a child to college in the Philippines is quite high and we thank Bruce Simpson for his
sponsorship of Judy Ann as well as many other children attending Elementary and High School.
