aerodynamic downforce; perfect for
fast sweeping turns on track (or on
the street if you’re so inclined). This
spoiler feature can be manually overridden to remain in the “up” or “down”
position. As you speed past 75 mph
and hit 160 mph, the RS5 is noticeably cool, calm, and collected. No vibrating. No shuttering. The car squats
down and charges on. Any “push” or
“understeer” you’d experience from
an all wheel drive car is mitigated by
the 40/60 all wheel drive split.
Of course you can’t talk about speed
without talking about brakes. Though
the standard brake package offers an
improvement over the S5 brakes, for
another $6,000 you can completely upgrade to the carbon-ceramic
brakes; not necessary if you’re just zipping around town, but a good investment if you plan to track this car on
high speed touring days at your local
road course. The motto “Truth in Engineering” rings true on track. The RS5 is
the perfect car to take you from the
boardroom to the race track in the
blink of an eye.
