n E W S v o l u m e 2 5 • i s s u e N o . 0 1 c a p i t o l c h r o n i c l e 14 2,000 runners join CUAA’s 1st CU Alumni Run 2013 By Cristel Cielo Barbac A pproximately 2,000 runners composed of students, alumni, outsiders and professionals joined the Capitol University Alumni Association (CUAA)’s 1st CU Alumni Run 2013 last July 14, 2013. The fun run was categorized into 3, namely 3k which is a vice-versa run from CU to Lapasan flyover, 5k another vice-versa run from CU to CUMC and 10k from CU to Mandaue Foam building, Cugman. The event officially started at 4:30am in the Capitol University Quadrangle with a welcome address by Mr. Clifford Jose Roa, CUAA President, followed by a hataw dance which served as ‘warm up’ for n E W S C runners. During the event, the College of Maritime Education and the College of Criminology officers served as the marshal for fun run while the College of Business Administration volunteers served as the food committee and water station facilitators all headed by their SBO presidents. The awarding of the winners was facilitated by the CUAA President assisted by Mr. Romeo Miñoza Jr., Mrs. Myrna Garde and the Capitol University Alumni Association Officers. The event was fully supported by the Capitol University Administration, Capitol University Medical City (CUMC), with the following major sponsors: Freshe Bioscience, Unilab, Concentrix, and Ms Gilda “Gigi” Go with the media Craving for water. The program ended with a closing remark by Mr. Clifford Roa who thanked everyone who helped secure the success of the event. b r i e f s apitol University Guidance office welcomed back its head, Dr. Eleanor Yap Buot, after ten months of sabbatical leave to Adelaide, Australia last August 1, 2013. On the first day of her come back, she made a courtesy call to the Capitol University administration with regards to her leave. She was then warmly welcomed by staff members of the Guidance Office with a celebration. “I am very happy to be back in Capitol University since I really missed working with my staff,” Dr. Buot said.
