roadway Sacramento, a musical
theatre series presented at the
Community Center Theater, is the
region’s largest live performing arts event.
Broadway Sacramento features national
touring productions of some of the most
popular Broadway shows, annually drawing
more than 150,000 theatre-lovers from
across the region.
This season includes two shows that
will be Sacramento premieres: Finding
Neverland (April 10 – 15), the breathtaking
smash hit that NPR calls “far and away
the best musical of the year,” tells the
incredible story behind one of the world’s
most beloved characters, Peter Pan. An
American in Paris (May 16 – 27), the new
Tony Award-winning musical that The
Wall Street Journal calls “a masterpiece,”
brings the magic and romance of Paris into
perfect harmony with unforgettable songs
from George and Ira Gershwin.

“They’re both wonderful stories and will
provide our Education department with the
opportunity to offer master classes to the
public,” says Richard Lewis, President and
CEO. “An American in Paris features a lot of
dance, so we hope to offer a master dance
class taught by a company member.”
Broadway Sacramento is also
partnering with the California County
Superintendent’s Educational Services
Association and the Crocker Art Museum
for the State Arts Learning Colloquium
on May 17, a professional development
learning day for educators focused on arts
education. “We’ll be presenting a Common
Core-aligned lesson, and after a morning
at the Crocker, participants will attend a
matinee performance of An American in
Paris,” notes Lewis.
“With Broadway Sacramento and our
summer Music Circus series, we bring
Broadway to Sacramento, which adds so

much to our community’s quality of life,”
concludes Lewis. “Our audiences relish
what we’re able to present to them on our
stages, and we’re grateful to the people of
Sacramento for supporting the arts.”
