ENGAGING VOLUNTEERS TO SUPPORT NONPROFITS
onprofits are always
looking for volunteer help,
and volunteers would do
more of it if they knew the need and
how to help fill it. Now, thanks to Team
Giving, the two have an easier time
finding each other.
Team Giving has an innovative,
hands on approach to volunteerism
that matches businesses, individuals,
and service clubs with nonprofits
that are addressing local community
needs. Simply put, Team Giving is
matchmaking with purpose: Inspire
compassion and promote giving in the
greater Sacramento area.
“We are offering a simple and
coordinated path where volunteers
can find their passion and make that
connection. We take all the busy work
out of it, efficiently supporting both
the volunteers and non-profits in a
collaborative style.” said co-founders
Trudy Harris and Cynthia Woods.
Through Team Giving, volunteers
can find many opportunities to give

back to the community. Employee
volunteer programs can schedule
team projects at any scale, and
individuals and service groups looking
to volunteer can always find a good fit.
On the nonprofit side, organizations
of any size can ask for help at one-
time events, in ongoing roles, and for
special projects.
“The hardest part for us was
finding where to give,” said Brian
Dickerson of Keller Williams in Elk
Grove, who volunteered to organize
their annual “Red Day” service
project. “We let Team Giving know
what kind of project we were looking
for and they found it for us.” By
securing the help of Team Giving, an
all-day work service event took place
at Project RIDE, a local nonprofit, and
the Keller Williams volunteers saved
Project RIDE an estimated six months
of labor.
In their first 18 months of

matching of volunteers with the needs
of nonprofits by providing more than
6,000 hours of coordinated services to
more than 55 nonprofits.
“Team Giving volunteers made a
world of difference,” said Patti Vitas,
Board President, Boys & Girls Club of
Placer County.
By effectively engaging volunteers,
nonprofits can serve more people
and ultimately generate a larger
community value. Team Giving’s goal
is to fuel the outcomes of nonprofits
by connecting them with volunteers
who have the skills and abilities to
meet their needs. Team Giving is
