This approach is intended to ensure that technology remains a tool to support instruction rather than replacing teacher-led instruction.
The new curriculum was selected through a review process involving District math teachers, principals and administrators. Task forces at both the elementary and secondary levels evaluated programs, participated in pilot experiences and provided feedback before recommending enVision and enVision +. Both math task forces were overwhelmingly in favor of recommending both programs.
“ The teachers are excited about Savvas’ comprehensive mathematics program. They feel it is going to address the needs of our students,” said Dr. Abbondanza.
Teachers received implementation training in May, with additional professional development planned throughout the upcoming school year. District leaders will continue to evaluate and refine the program as it is implemented.
The ongoing professional development will give teachers opportunities to collaborate, share instructional strategies and discuss how students are responding to the new curriculum. With the launch of the new math program, Canon-McMillan hopes to provide students with a stronger foundation in mathematics and a clearer understanding of how those skills apply beyond the classroom. anon-Mac CANON-MAC SCHOOL DISTRICT NEWS
