SUMMER FADE AWAY FESTIVAL RAISES AWARENESS OF AUTISM SUPPORT SERVICES
The Canonsburg Summer Fade Away Festival brought the community together for an uplifting day of live music, food, activities and connection— all in support of the Autism Caring Center.
The festival was created by Scott and Kelly Snyder after their son, Nathan, was diagnosed with autism at age 1. At the time, they were told he might never speak or attend school. Today, Nathan is speaking, thriving and defying those early expectations. His journey inspired the Snyders to team up with the Autism Caring Center to create an event rooted in hope and dedicated to ensuring that other families do not have to navigate autism alone.
“[ We ] understood firsthand how difficult it can be for families to find support, trusted resources and a place where they truly feel accepted,” said the center’ s cofounder, Kelly Cain.
This year’ s festival, bringing out 2,000 + people, celebrated neurodivergent individuals while raising awareness of the resources, guidance and sense of community available. Harry Psaros— national autism advocate and bestselling author of“ From Struggle to Strength: A Father’ s Journey with Autism and the Power of Hope and Positivity,” and Autism Caring Center board member— served as master of ceremonies.
The message is that an autism diagnosis does not define a child’ s future. With community support, determination and opportunity, children can achieve far more than anyone initially imagines. The Summer Fade Away Festival demonstrates what can happen when families, advocates and neighbors come together to support individuals with autism and help create a future in which every person has the opportunity to thrive.
