Is Your Camera
Protected When
You Paddle?
By Cotswold Outdoor
Charge it
For those of you out there with action cameras this
shouldn’t be too hard, pop it into a waterproof housing
and you’re good to go. But if you’re looking to take
out your trusty point and shoot, then we have just the
thing. We stock some nifty little dry-bags with clear
covers you can shoot though, perfect for protecting
your camera or phone from the spray and surf. Batteries will always go flat at the most inconvenient
moments. We always pack a spare battery pack for
recharging our gadgets on the go, or a solar charger
if the weather’s looking good. Not only will they keep
your camera fully charged while you’re out and about,
but they’re great for camping, trekking and generally
recharging gadgets on the go.
Tether it Upgrade it
There’s nothing worse than taking an awesome photo
only to drop your camera into the drink. Some dry
bags will have attachment points already built in,
perfect for tethering your camera either to yourself or
to your craft. We always say, there’s rarely a problem
that can’t be solved with duct tape, WD40, or 5mm
cord. In this case the latter is perfect for tethering,
light enough to keep out the way and strong enough
to withstand the currents. With a variety of stable mounts and waterproof
housings, investing in an action camera is one of the
best ways to capture amazing photos and video out
on the water. Durable enough to put in the heart of
the action, you’ll get some amazing pictures. With
editing software coming on leaps and bounds, you can
turn your holiday snaps and clips into stunning video
easier than ever before.
Taken those tips on board? Great, now
get out there and take some amazing
photos, we can’t wait to see what you
come back with. Don’t forget that all

We loved some of the shots you folks submitted for British Canoeing’s Spring Photo
Competition. So much in fact that we’re putting up another set of prizes for the Autumn
competition. Nailing that perfect shot is hard at the best of times. Composition, lighting,
or just finding your camera in the moment. All that becomes a hundred times harder when
you’re trying to paddle and navigate at the same time. Luckily, we’ve got a couple of tips
for taking your camera – or any electron ics – out on the water.
