CCIM: The December 4, 2017 operational update dropped hints about “international markets” … can you advise on EMC’s strategy with respect to international markets and expansion?

EMMBF: We believe Canada has a first-mover’s global advantage in the Cannabis space. We certainly have global ambitions and will seek out international markets for growth and expansion.

CIM: Returning to the domestic market, Canada is months away from ending prohibition by legalizing an adult recreational market. Emblem has stated repeatedly since at least May 2017 that is pursuing strategic partnerships to ensure that EMC will be positioned well for the adult-use cannabis market. Can you advise of any updates and timelines?

EMMBF: Emblem has made significant investments in developing both an owned-brand strategy for the adult-use market, as well as forming strategic partnerships. We are excited to announce our adult-use strategy in Q2’18 and believe we are well positioned to drive significant demand amongst consumers.

CIM: Many speculate that marijuana will become commoditized in Canada mirroring the USA experience in those states where it is legal. I believe that the Health Canada licensing that includes capacity limits as well as Cannamerx may act as a supply management control. If marijuana is commoditized in Canada then that may suggest there needs to be value added transformation (edibles and beverages etc). How do you see this unfolding in Canada?

EMMBF: It is our belief that edibles, beverages and other value-added products are the future of this category and we expect this transition to happen very quickly after legalization. Cannabis companies need to start thinking like traditional
