Welcome to this month’s case studies. All companies referenced throughout the magazine are not intended as investment advice but rather to bring an awareness of different companies that may be invested in. Any third party images fall within fair dealing under Canadian Copyright law.

Rather than state a separate case study as a standalone piece your case studies are in this article:

As education grows around the medical uses and benefits of cannabis and hemp so does public awareness and education that in turn translates into public acceptance. And what is cornerstone to all change in a democracy - public acceptance and especially when rooted in education and science. So again, where is this curtain and what is behind it?

Much like a good magic trick … it is behind the curtain where the true activity is happening in preparation for the “reveal” – when the curtain is pulled away. The recent FDA approval of this drug made from cannabis may just be one more nail on the coffin of prohibition.

Other countries appear leaps and bounds ahead of the USA in this industry. But is that all smoke and mirrors? Trickery? Slight of hand? Canada just announced it will allow outdoor grow. Oregon, for example, has years of experience perfecting outdoor growing. Canada also announced it will allow edibles and beverages (and other delivery methods) likely in 2019. Again, walk into a legal dispensary in states such as California, Colorado, and Oregon and be met by a plethora of proven products. Some Canadian companies have travelled to companies in those states where cannabis is legal to learn best practices.

The curtain my friends is the Federal Administration along with the current classification of cannabis as a schedule-1 substance. Rescheduling cannabis may be the same as lifting that curtain for the big reveal. Yes, there will be some internal focus for a period because as you know from reading our content, the Consolidation Curve cannot be avoided. Tax treatment and banking will also need addressing. Rescheduling cannabis even if just to those jurisdictions where cannabis is legal also addresses the bizarre decisions being made at the US border where travellers are being banned entry into the USA simply because of their lawful compliance and use in their own country (please read my article for more on this alleged practice at the border).
