Attorney General Jeff Sessions and President Donald Trump presents marijuana legalization as a moral problem and encouraging prosecutors to go after state-legal marijuana businesses. There could be several reasons besides moral ethics, why the government will not legalize marijuana. Big pharma, alcohol, and tobacco companies donate to many political campaigns and legalization of marijuana may have a significant negative impact on their revenues, due to the fact consumers have a limited amount of discretionary income and may chose to purchase marijuana rather than pharmaceuticals, alcohol, and/or tobacco.
