CN: Before Conception, I helped build and acted as CEO of one of California’s largest vertically integrated cannabis operators, but just as importantly, I adhere to the Steve Jobs hiring approach: I try to hire smart people so they can tell me what to do. We have a blend of senior managers from both in and outside of cannabis that have repeatedly led their former firms through periods of large growth while maintaining operational excellence. Before Conception, our VP of Finance oversaw a consumer goods company’s growth from $0 to $30M+ in 36 months. Our COO ran a hemp processing firm and a 350-person medevac operation. Our Director of R&D has a PHd in Applied Horticultural Science and has worked in tissue culture her whole career. Our Sr. Director of Lab Operations ran multiple tissue culture labs for multinational agricultural companies. Our General Counsel served cultivators of all sizes. We have the people in place to have strategic and scaled growth.

CIM: How do you plan on being fully compliant?

CN: I am proud to say that one of our first hires was inside counsel. However, compliance is much more than attorneys. We understand compliance as a culture - not just the responsibility of one department.

We work with regulators with open arms and partner with local experts in each state to develop and maintain the best compliance procedures.
