TresMonet: It’s really all about Dr. laRive and his amazing career. As Master Engineer, with two PhDs, he worked as an independent contractor at NASA for over 17 years. During his time there, he specialized in aeronautics, jet propulsion, automation, mechanics, robotics and most important to our Intellectual Property: Nanotechnology. Dr. laRive lead the team that invented the radiant barrier, which kept the radiation and heat out of the Space Shuttle and is still used in space suits today and he also researched how to deliver nutrients to astronauts in zero-gravity. He worked previously in sickle-cell anemia gene therapy creating Nano-bots, which would enter the bloodstream, find the errant cell and cut off the sickle. He says he was months away from curing the disease, but the government shut down the program, for fear of the implications of bioterrorism around the time of 9/11. All this to say that Dr. laRive’s wheelhouse is in delivery systems, and he brings his wealth of knowledge regarding the interrelated nature of all of the sciences to his work at TresMonet.
