Health Canada to Begin Testing Vapes

The widespread panic around vaping has been regarded as a major problem for the cannabis industry and towards the end of December; cannabis regulator Health Canada made an important announcement regarding the matter. The regulator stated that it is going to test the possible health effects of vaping and in particular, the effects of inhaling substances originating from cannabis vaping products.

Vapes had already been legalized by the regulator back in October last year but the widespread fear about its health effects had created a tricky situation for both Health Canada and the cannabis industry at large.

Expansion of Shoppers Drug Mart Boosts Cannabis Sales

2019 had been a disappointing year with regards to cannabis sales but in early December, the industry got a major boost after Shoppers Drug Mart announced that it is going to expand its medical cannabis sales e-commerce platform. Shoppers Drug Mart is the biggest drug store group in Canada and it announced that from December it will start selling its products to patients in 5 new locations.

The areas in question include New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Newfoundland & Labrador, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. In this regard, it should be noted that the company is not permitted to sell medical cannabis at its physical stores but in early 2019 it had been granted permission to sell such products online in the province of Ontario.
