THE INVESTMENT ANALYSIS FORM

Every month we highlighted investment strategies and opportunities and, arguably most importantly, how to identify those sources of information that may require further due diligence – based on that due diligence one can use or avoid such sources.

Once one has all this information along with a stronger understanding of Technical Analysis, Fundamental Analysis and other tools - how does one manage their investments and prospects? There are of course many ways to do this such as creating “portfolios” on various investment boards that also provide news releases for companies selected. Investor’s Hub is ideally suited for this as is Stockhouse. However, none of these can replace a customized “Investment Analysis Form”. There are great forms from reputable sources such as in the eBook “PotLuck Cannabis Style: A Step by Step Guide To Investing in Marijuana Stocks”.

Many investment board created portfolios allow for the information to be exported as a file (usually as a .csv). Such a file can readily be saved in spreadsheet format (Excel for example) and then manipulated – historical data used to create Technical Analysis charts, calculating beta, and so forth. Such export files are again not live and require some data entering and manipulation. One could create a spreadsheet with various formulas entered to grab the data from the export file. The benefit of this is that allows a new form to be generated with each data update and if the previous one is saved as a standalone file then a history is created that can be readily accessed and referenced. One could create a new sheet for each update within the same spreadsheet and have a summary page that tracks trends for example.

This month, we will create a free customizable Investment Analysis Form that feeds key live stock data. The Retail Investor can then manipulate and display that data how they choose but there is no escaping some manual inputs.
