Volume 4, 1st Quarter 2018

Is it time to embrace Integrating medical treatments between alternative and traditional healthcare? Has the Patient decided for the both industries already, with the knowledge of twenty-nine States in The U.S. and nine Countries having legalized Cannabis? Are Providers eager to participate in the clinical conversations with Patients today?

The current landscape of Patients today has shifted taking healthcare into their own hands, with the rising costs of Healthcare, less efficacy and reduced studies towards

growing conditions and diseases Patients are today investing into their research exploring options independent of traditional care. What happens when a Patient discovers an alternative that is successful before any 8-12-year study attempts to bring another treatment to market?

How does Healthcare respond to the challenge that faces Medical Cannabis and other alternatives with Patients who report inconsistent results when using non-standardized products in alternative care, and then the other side, Traditional care where Physicians see Patients having exhausted all traditional treatments without benefit and have else to offer the Patient. Patients report concerns with alternative medications with the inconsistent results and then Patients also see concerns with the lack of response to the Opiate epidemic.

Today there are many practices that are widely embraced however some continue to face criticism and scrutiny. An example, is coronary bypass surgery that became an embraced and accepted treatment before undergoing controlled clinical trials. The evidence of benefit and or efficacy with coronary bypass surgery not only reduced symptoms of stable angina, but also garnered incredible optimism with the procedure. Out of frustration comes innovative solutions impacting health today, and we certainly see a strong Patient support system building with alternative treatments and we must remain relevant by participating in the clinical conversation.

Today we all have the incredible opportunity to engage and to connect not only with the education but also the research and science of Medical Cannabis and it is our hope that we become a resource in our multidisciplinary approach.

We thank you for the continued support and encouragement as we pave the way for generations to come with what we do today in research and education.

In health,

Amy
