Greetings CANNAHEALTH reader,

The mission of CANNAHEALTH is to provide knowledge, safe access and advocacy to the medical cannabis community. As registered nurses, we understand that optimum HEALTH involves implementation of care from a number of different disciplines. For example, while working at the bedside, we have nursed patients after open heart surgery, motor vehicle accidents, drug overdoses and those needing life support, who have suffered a stroke, with bloodstream infections and more. While these are contrasting ailments, the commonality in their plan of care always consisted of a team. The construction of this team varied based on the patient’s needs; some needed specialty physicians while others needed physical therapy, social worker assistance, wound care or a diabetic educator. Nevertheless, there was always a multitude of different disciplines creating a total wellness approach towards optimum recovery and health. It takes a village.

It is our objective to CANNAHEALTH’s mission to apply these same principles in creating a reliable and diverse network of everyday people, including professionals from an array of various disciplines and backgrounds, to provide a well-rounded knowledge base and legitimate team leading a pioneering trail in free digital medical cannabis education.

Women are among this team and they are making a pivotal mark in this industry. Marijuana Business Daily reports that 36% of executive positions in Cannabis are held by women versus 22% in other industries. In testing labs, women comprise over half of the executive positions at 62%. But women are also bringing innovation to the cannabis industry through handy work, pun intended. A company entitled AnnaBis, founded by a woman, created a line of aroma-controlled handbags, clutches, vape cases and other Cannabis infused accessories aimed toward the sophisticated consumers. Other equally notable women have created foundations, dispensaries, consulting firms, and edibles therefore paving the way for future generations. While CANNAHEALTH concentrates on the healthcare aspect of Cannabis, the business success of Cannabis is equally important. In fact, many of these entrepreneurial women began their journey from a healthcare experience with themselves or a loved one as seen in the patient empowerment section of this issue. In the words of James Brown, “it’s a man’s world but it ain’t nothing without a woman.”

This issue emphasizes women’s health. The Endoca-

nnabinoid system is found in the body of mammals,

including humans. It plays a vital role in homeostasis, in

other words balance, of all of the body’s systems including

the immune, circulatory, reproductive, and nervous

systems. While more research exists today than in the past,

women's health is slowly emerging on the scene.

Giving Much Gratitude,
