CANNAHEALTH The Power of Cannabidiol | Page 4

GRATITUDE

From the Editor

Greetings CANNAHEALTH Readers,

As medical Cannabis increases as a therapy in the plan of care for patients, as does the knowledge of the over 80 chemical compounds or cannabinoids that comprise the Cannabis plant. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is the most popular cannabinoid which is most known for its strong psychoactive properties providing the “high” feeling. However, THC is increasingly emerging in medicine as an effective therapy in reducing nausea, inflammation, pain, muscle spasms and increasing appetite. Some medical Cannabis proponents and healthcare providers advocate the need for the THC component in terms of optimal therapy stating that it provides a synergistic effect. In other words, the patient reaps the most therapeutic benefit from Cannabis medicine when THC is included.

There are other less commonly known cannabinoids emerging in medicine that also provide therapeutic benefits such as:

• Cannabichromene (CDC) known for anti-inflammatory, antidepressant

and anti-tumor properties

• Cannabinol (CBN) known as an appetite stimulant, antibiotic properties,

asthmatics and pain reduction

• Cannabigerol (CBG) known for antibiotics, anti-tumor and mood

stabilization properties

Unfortunately, state-approved medicinal use of Cannabis is progressing slowly yet still illegal federally. For that reason, clinical research and trials of the efficacy of Cannabis are limited within the Unites States. CANNAHEALTH aims to change this by creating a reliable network of resources, materials and knowledge within the medical Cannabis community.

With that said, in this issue we focus on one of the

more well-known cannabinoids, Cannabidiol (CBD).

We answer some frequently asked questions as to

what is CBD, how does it work, how does it differ

from THC and how do you obtain it? In addition, we

address a new and growing patient population: pets!

Can CBD be an effective pet therapy? We hope you

enjoy reading this issue and, as always, thank you for

your continued support!

Much Gratitude,
