and Prevalent Diseases
In this day and age, looking at the statistics of prevalent diseases and survival rates is frightening for anyone, but from a minority’s standpoint, the statistics are even scarier. Cancer, of course, is one of the biggest banes of our existence no matter the race, but the inequities regarding the disease are blatant. According to the CDC’s Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities, even though African-American women get
breast screenings nearly as often as white women, more African-American women will die from breast cancer. In fact, the death rate for ALL cancers is 30%
