Cannabis sativa, the psychoactive, psychotropic subspecies of the Cannabis genus. Has traveled across time. Across immense space meeting the medical needs of physicians and patients alike. Cannabis and its derivatives have been employed as therapeutic agents for thousands of years (McCarberg). Many early elemental civilizations are responsible for the advancement of medicinal cannabis use. Together, these diverse cultures from across the world have shaped the way cannabis is utilized for therapeutic consumption. Many of these practices are still utilized today.
