Cannabis has been shown to stimulate both our taste and smell. The fact that it also stimulates appetite is not only the subject of much humor but is well documented. Additionally, it has been shown that the concentration of Cannabinoid receptors common to immune cells increases in the intestines of patients with bowel diseases. Cannabinoids seem to help regulate some aggravated and inflamed GI issues resulting in a quieting of the body’s upset response.
For these reasons there is great speculation and hope by some researchers, physicians and patients about the potential Cannabis has to play in treating conditions like gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome and Crohn's disease.
