CANNAHEALTH An Overview of Cannabis | Page 44

Please allow me to introduce the love of my life …my granny, Marjorie Riley. Her life accomplishments include: being 94-yrs of age, being honored by: the governor, General Assembly, and the GA Secretary of State as the Official State of Georgia “Great Great Granny”, visiting the great and adventurous State of Alaska on a month long vacation in 1980 and most recently becoming a Medical Marijuana (MMJ) Patient. Granny suffers from a plethora of ailments including: Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, COPD, Kidney Failure, Insomnia, Hypotension, Chrohn’s Disease, and Partial Age-Related Dementia.

But that doesn't stop her from being a tremendous political operative. During a photo shoot with Governor Nathan Deal for her birthday party at the Capitol several years ago granny just out of the blue said: "I'm not very smart but I do know depending on what kind of diabetic you are sometimes sugar is your medicine." The governor asked what that meant? Granny's retort, "I think it means you should give the Seizure Babies their medicine ...and while you're at it if there's a medical marijuana pill I can take to help me sleep at night I want one of those too ... !" The governor was speechless.

As such, in 2015 after falling in the middle of the night while trying to go to the bathroom and sustaining a serious life-threatening head trauma, I as her primary caretaker consulted with her doctor about discontinuing the sleeping pill she was prescribed and replacing it with the marijuana THC pill Dronabinol.

Since that change in her medication protocol not only have there been no further nighttime falling incidents …but her appetite has been stimulated and she sleeps better. Consequently, in February 2017 she obtained her Georgia Cannabis Oil Card and began to include a Cannabis Oil regimen to her medication protocol …and I can assure you her worse days are now are still better than her best days used to be prior to ingesting the Cannabis Oil.

And to say the least her sense of humor has definitely returned. Just the other day she said: “If I knew then what I know now …I would’ve made your granddaddy plant a whole field of medical marijuana in the back yard 50 years ago!” To be sure, Granny can be a "gooney bird" sometimes but there's no doubt she's a prime candidate to be a “MMJ Poster Child”!

GO GRANNY !!!
