There is a viral YouTube video about a patient with Parkinson’s, Larry, who tries marijuana for the first time. Larry suffers from severe dyskinesia (involuntary muscle movements) as a side effect from levodopa, a primary treatment in Parkinson’s Disorder (PD).

The involuntary movements are highly distracting and make walking, talking, and eating such hard tasks for Larry. After a couple of minutes of trying CBD (cannabidiol) oil, what happens is breathtaking, but I’m not going to ruin it for you…go watch it. The video is a sneak peek into the full film about Larry’s journey of fighting PD and riding a bike 300 miles across South Dakota. Raising awareness and inspiring others, Larry's story is worth watching and sharing.

Parkinson's is a

debilitating disease, not only do patients suffer from motor dysfunction, but they also suffer from several psychological distresses. We have drugs that are successful for a lot of patients but these drugs often work just at the beginning stages of PD and are responsible for severe side effects, just like Larry has. We are in desperate need for other treatment modalities to offer PD patients for the disease and the side effects of current therapies. Here is a place where the limits of modern medicine meet the benefits of a powerful plant. That plant is marijuana, and we know it has medical benefits, but the power and complexity is yet to be understood completely.
