and Vice-President Tyler Manion also recognize this unprecedented pandemic year and have given special consideration to our plight here in Canada. Dear Members: The final four months of the CPA season have arrived. We have been waiting for government restrictions due to Covid-19 to ease. Some provinces have moved to Stage 4 and have increased the numbers allowed at gatherings with social distancing and wearing of masks, while others are keeping a more conservative approach. CPA promoters regardless of restrictions have been researching different venues to find a way to hold their competitions, for many giving up is not an option. The second CPA competition of the year will be held in Ottawa on Sunday, September 20, 2020. Congratulations to Chelsea and Jean Luc Boissonneault on being committed to finding a way to host this event. This will be the restart of our CPA competition season. Our competitors have been relentless along with many of the trainers who have been instructing their athletes for the on-again off-again final preps as contests are being postponed or canceled. The will to compete by our athletes is second to none; the passion of our promoters to give back to the sport by being relentless in trying to hold a competition under the current conditions is inspirational. The cream truly rises to the top and to all our members and promoters supporting the CPA under the NPC umbrella, we thank you for helping keep our sport strong. Our friends across the border have been equally passionate with new owner of The Olympia, Jake Wood, generating innovative ways to enhance and improve this iconic event; to the promoters across the US hosting contests under strict government guidelines congratulations and kudo’s to Tim Gardner helping other promoters such as Steve Weinberger assisting him to to host the popular New York Pro in the State of Florida; and Gary Udit and his team promoting the North Americans for the first time under a huge tent to ensure all is safe during this pandemic crisis. The IFBB Pro League and NPC President Jim Manion This year both international pro qualifiers (Toronto Pro Qualifier and the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier) will be held in the late fall in Toronto at the Delta Hotel Toronto Airport & Conference Centre, just minutes away from Pearson International Airport. The only Natural IFBB Pro League Pro competition in the world, the Ben Weider Natural Pro Show, will be held on December 5th in Toronto with winners qualifying to the one and only Olympia. In combination with that show will be the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier. This is the international natural pro qualifier of the year for Canadians to compete at, with a total 16 pro cards for overall winners in the open and master’s category. Overall winners will qualify to compete the very same day at the Ben Weider Natural Pro Championships. Qualifications for Canadian competitors have been relaxed. Top 3 from any 2019 natural regional show and all competitors from any of the 2020 natural regional shows qualify to the Ben Weider Natural Pro Qualifier. More good news the Toronto Pro Qualifier will be held on Saturday, November 21st combined with our annual regional CPA President’s Cup on Friday, November 20. The IFBB Pro League has given permission to have 20 IFBB Pro Cards handed out to overall winners in the open and masters classes. For this year only there will be two pro cards for overall open Bikini, two for overall open Men’s Physique and two for overall open Wellness. Once again, those competing in the CPA President’s Cup on Friday will automatically qualify to the Toronto Pro Qualifier for a chance to earn an IFBB pro card!!! Both these contests continue to get better and we have not forgotten about the supporters and fans of the athletes. Depending on gathering restrictions we may have a live pay per view of both the Toronto Pro Qualifier and the Ben Weider Naturals. Stay tuned for further news. In the meantime, stay healthy, stay safe, stay strong!! Ron Hache, President Canadian Physique Alliance 06 6
