DID YOU SAY IMPOSSIBLE?
by Lesley Timbol
Yes you have a choice: do
nothing or do something.
Something happens. Something
bad happens. You may feel a
range of emotions, i.e., anger,
hurt, sadness and shock. Yeah,
COVID-19 is a great example
of something bad happening
to athletes all over the world just
wanting to compete but can’t do so, or
athletes’ training hard only to find their
competition has been cancelled.
This is the moment when you have power.
You may not feel like it. In fact, you might
feel powerless. But if you recognize you
have a choice and what that choice is, you

cancelled again until next year. Do you see
your choice?

something. You can look at the upcoming
shows and plan to do a show later in the
year. You can invest in some gym equipment
or find creative ways to train from home.
You can stay on your meal plan to give
yourself a routine, control, and something
to focus on that is within your control.
You can choose to take action despite
uncertainty. The show may or may not
go on but you will train for it as if it was a
certainty. Don’t do this half assed! Go all
in with your training, nutrition and focus.
Even if your show is cancelled, you will be
within striking distance of nailing it for the
