I finally reached out to Lesley and we started
figuring out my “math problem”. Once it
started to flow, it became easier. I created
process goals that made sense and were
applicable for me. I was SO STUCK on the
big outcome that I couldn’t break it down in a
way that made sense. I can be very particular
and specific, which is required in my legal
career. In my mind, I could not get the
process goal to succinctly line up with the
expectation. Well, it didn’t need to! You will
arrive at the outcome if you focus on the
process. I set some process goals to detract
from the high expectations and keep my
focus on the execution and the now - as
opposed to the big picture when I am on
stage...you know, thanking the Academy for
my award.
Setting process goals and the feeling that
went alongside that was really empowering.
I started to apply these process goals last
week. I told my coach that in a lot of ways, I
feel like I am learning to walk again. I should
know how to apply all of this with ease, but
the mental hurdles have been great for me.
When I previously prepped for competitions,
which was the only time I ate consistently
clean, it was to ultimately distract me from
what life was serving me at the time. My life
is in a very different place, on the positive.
So, I definitely need a new strategy and
ability to balance the career and business
goals that I want to focus on as well.
