GOING FROM LEAN TO SHREDDED
BY JUAN ROJAS
You did your show , you got on stage , and after a few weeks you finally got your judges critique back !
What is one of the most common things we hear from the judges after we do a show ?
“ You could have been a little bit tighter , bring a bit more conditioning next time .”
Why is it so common to hear this ? Because getting in contest shape requires extreme discipline and is something that can be extremely uncomfortable to do .
It ' s not overly difficult to get in good shape and get lean as to what society deems to be “ shredded .” I ' m talking about the 8 % to 12 % body fat range . You can see veins in your arms , have little bit of striations in your shoulders , and have a good set of abs in this range .
But is this good enough to be competitive on stage ?
It is a much different journey going from that point to stage condition where you can see striations in the glutes , where it hurts to walk because there ' s no fat and water beneath your heels and where your face looks absolutely sunk in . Every time you chew your food , you can see every muscle contracting in your forehead and jaw .
