Dear Members :
This is our final newsletter of the year and we continue to persevere during the COVID pandemic that has affected our fitness community in so many ways . Whether I ’ m speaking to competitors , promoters , officials , supplement and fitness apparel companies , gym owners , trainers and the list goes on , the collateral damage from this pandemic has touched us all . The one thing I have learned from all of this is those who are the most passionate and determined stay focused on their goals and commitment to the sport .
I believe we have become much more understanding and empathetic for each other as a result of the consequences of the pandemic . What we have learned from this experience has strengthened our relationship within the fitness community ; we have become more creative in our lives , whether its personal relationships , competition training or improving our business approaches . We have tested our ability to react to unexpected circumstances such as gym closing affecting competitors , owners and trainers . Promoters have also experienced unexpected challenges like Heather and Jean Leblanc , promoters of the New Brunswick Natural and Open Championships , reacting to their venue being shut down hours before the start of the competition causing them to secure a new venue and running the competition on Friday rather than scheduled Saturday . These types of experiences have prepared us for the good times where it will be a walk in the park for all of us once the pandemic is over .
You have probably noticed that in Canada the only bodybuilding / fitness competitions taking place are the ones sanctioned by the CPA and NPC . Although other fitness federations have been using the pandemic as an excuse for not moving forward with their events , they have been actively reporting our competitions to government agencies that oversee compliance of pandemic rules . Even though many of our events / promoters were targeted they all passed with flying colors surpassing the mandatory guidelines to ensure our competitors and all who attended were safe .
The CPA is determined to finish the year strong with open and natural regional and pro qualifiers competitions to take place in the months of November and December . There will be many joyful competitors at Christmas with the gift of new pro cards and new IFBB Pro league qualifications to the 2021 Olympia .
Looking forward to seeing you all soon . Ron Hache , President Canadian Physique Alliance
