Fitness for one has been a huge help for my mental health . The release of serotonin when working out clears stress and helps you to feel better and that ’ s why I love it ! Outside of the physical change fitness gives me ; the mental effects outweigh the physical for sure ! There is nothing better than getting a good pump and feeling your stress just disappear . Music is also a big help ! I found changing the music I listened to helped a lot ! I used to listen to sappy music like love songs , breakup songs , songs about sad / angry things in general and in those times I was depressed . When I switched my music to more upbeat positive songs like techno it made me think about more positive things like a beach vacation , dancing etc .
This has been a huge help as well . I also use CBD / THC edibles to help me as well . Because I have ADHD I find a lot of my depression and anxiety was caused by overthinking and always being stuck in my head . With cbd / thc it allows my brain to slow down and be calm and have less thoughts flowing in at once . I combine this with meditation when needed and the results are amazing ! Meditation is amazing for the mind as it creates a temporary silence and helps you to ground yourself and destress .
The last thing I did that helped my mentality is surround myself with better people . I stopped hanging out with people who negatively impacted my life whether it was people who always partied , people who were mean to me or people who did not support my goals . As soon as I lost those people I instantly felt better and when I gained more positive people and people who had the success I wanted I felt a lot more motivated and positive overall because they reminded me that I can do anything I set my mind to !
For me I feel depression , anxiety and any mental struggle is manageable , yes you may not be able to get rid of it completely but you can definitely manage it without prescription medication and be able to rise up and own your life without those struggles bringing you down ! We all have our days and we aren ’ t perfect , but being self-aware of the issues and understanding that it ’ s just your brain trying to bring you down , makes it a lot easier to change your outlook and learn ways to overcome the issues .
