make some changes to her meal prep since returning to the stage. While she formerly ate meat, those days are now behind her.
Alexis, under her mom’ s coaching, follows a similar structure. She sticks to a gluten-free diet but does include meat in her contest prep approach. While they occasionally lift together, meal prep is a solo mission.
“ It’ s almost like we have separate kitchens,” Christina says, laughing.“ We share a lot, but not the cooking!”
Mom instructs her daughter on the diet and makes changes accordingly as the prep progresses, but the meal plans themselves are unique to each competitor ' s needs.
Where the prep is the same is with meal frequency and timing. They stick to four meals a day plus one protein shake. Christina prefers her shake as a bedtime meal, while Alexis starts her day with it. Christina also enjoys a post-workout treat of pineapple with Tajin. A delicious post-workout carb feeding.
Supplements: Keeping It Simple and Effective
Both competitors take a streamlined supplement stack:
Plant-based multivitamin Evening Primrose Oil Zinc Ashwagandha Glutamine and creatine EAAs and BCAAs Stim-free pre-workout
Inspiration and Influence
Christina cites Dana Linn Bailey as a key influence:“ I have followed her and her husband, Rob, for a long time. They have a great relationship and dynamic. Humble and inspiring.
You know, I ' ve met so many wonderful people in this sport. There is a lot of camaraderie. It ' s like a sisterhood. People have this misconception that all girls are haters and it ' s like“ Mean Girls” backstage, but it ' s not like that at all. I love how nice it is and how much we look out for each other.”
Alexis looks to a different corner of the fitness world:“ I ' m new to the sport, but one person I have always followed on insta goes by‘ Little T Fitness ' and I ' ve always followed her for my acrobatics and stuff. For inspiration. She ' s been amazing.”
Balancing Social Life and Sacrifice
When asked how prep has impacted her social life, Alexis is refreshingly candid.
“ It does kinda suck when we go out and everyone’ s eating delicious food and I’ m just having water. Early in prep, maybe I’ d have something on a cheat day. But now, being this close to the show, I stick to the plan.”
Fortunately, her social circle gets it.“ My friends are supportive. Some even train with me. One was going to compete too, but got injured. It’ s great having people who understand.”
Final Reps, Final Reflections
As the day draws to a close and I say farewell to this incredible duo, I ask Christina what she thinks of her daughter getting up on the stage that her mom has been on so many times before. What final thoughts does she have about this great journey?
Christina smiles as she looks at Alexis and says,“ She’ s looking amazing … maybe too good," Christina jokes. " Has me thinking I should sabotage her meal plan."
But beneath the humor lies profound pride.
Beyond the sets, the posing practice, and the strict meal plans, Christina reflects on what matters most:
“ There’ s something deeply rewarding about sharing this with Alexis. It goes beyond reps, meals, and posing. It’ s about showing up for her. Showing her that at any age, regardless of what’ s going on, you can do tough things.
We celebrate one another’ s progress. We hold each other accountable. And when the tough days come— and they do— we meet them with tough love and humor."
