Most people underestimate how long it takes to TIME get in competition/photoshoot shape.  OVER-RELIANCE As a general rule, if you don't have abs at the start of the diet, plan for ON 12-16 weeks. Otherwise you'll have SUPPLEMENTS to crash diet. This will cause muscle loss and you'll end up looking smooth and flat, in addition to LAST WEEK/PEAK WEEK CHANGES becoming a hard person to live with. :( So, you must determine how much body-fat you need to lose in order to get to the required body-fat for your class. From there on, plan your diet with a reasonable caloric deficit so that you will drop about 1-2 lbs of fat a week (it won't be all fat, but that's another article).
