CANADIAN PHYSIQUE ALLIANCE July/August SUMMER ISSUE | Seite 81
This is assuming you have put the
proper time and practise into your
training & posing. After all, you
successfully performed these skills
in the past, so get out of your head
and let your body perform like you
trained it.
Analyzing and overhauling your
technique is not the best strategy
to break through a mental block.
That is merely a physical response
to a mental block. For example, if
you are breaking down the
techniques of how you should do a
pose on stage, you are not
performing with trust in your skills
and practice. You have doubt and
are trying to make corrections on
stage hoping for the best.
Ask yourself are you a bodybuilder
that wants to rely on ‘hoping for
the best’ or a bodybuilder who is
training to be the best? To be the
best goes beyond the physical
training and strict diet, you need to
go where no bodybuilder has gone
before (a bit dramatic but I’m a
Star Trek fan): mental training!
The best plan of attack to deal with
mental blocks is to apply mental
strategies (i.e., relaxation, self-talk,
emotional management, focus,
trust). Mental strategies can help
you break through blocks but they
also strengthen your mental game
by preventing some mental blocks
from popping up in the future.
