Let ’ s face it ... Injuries suck . but they ’ re often inevitable in any sport .
As a bodybuilder , how have injuries impacted you physically as well as mentally in the past ?
On the physical side of the injury , you ’ ll endure physical pain , discomfort , potential surgery , rehab and re-conditioning , which is of course extremely difficult ., but oftentimes it ’ s the MENTAL impact of the injury that tends to be much more challenging to deal with . This includes bodybuilders having to deal with the mental management of pain , loss of identity , feelings of worthlessness , frustration , anger , sadness and anxiety , dealing with feelings of isolation and withdrawing from social interactions with coaches and fellow gym mates , fear of re-injury , loss of confidence , decreased self-esteem and motivation , internal and / or external pressure to return to prepping for a show before they ’ re fully
