TORONTO PRO SUPERSHOW - LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - MYRIAM “ MIMI ” CAPES

Every year the Toronto Pro SuperShow recognizes a Canadian for their contribution to the sport of bodybuilding and fitness . This year the Toronto Pro SuperShow recognized Myriam Capes , a trailblazing athlete and mentor in the bodybuilding and fitness industry . Through her dedication , hard work and leadership she represented Canada on The Olympia stage a remarkable 10 times in the fitness category . Her commitment to self-respect , integrity and promoting femininity and grace serve as a beacon of inspiration for all women in sporting activities .
Myriam Capes was born in Montreal on August 20th , 1984 , to Manon Fortin & Denis Capes , who affectionately named her “ Mimi ”. Her parents recognized her natural talent and passion for sports at a very young age and Myriam took her first steps towards a lifelong journey of athleticism .
She became a gymnast not long after she began walking and continued her passion and dedication as a gymnast throughout her teenage years . Her love for physical activity only grew stronger as she transitioned into competitive fitness in 2002 . Myriam ’ s unwavering perseverance and commitment to her craft propelled her to the top of the fitness world where she earned accolades and recognition for her exceptional talent . After winning 3 consecutive titles at the Canadian National Championships sanctioned by the Canadian Bodybuilding Federation , she earned her professional status with the IFBB Pro League at the age of 22 making her at that time the youngest athlete in the fitness category to accomplish such a feat .
During the peak of her IFBB Professional career , Myriam was ranked 3rd by the IFBB with her consistent placings at The Olympia , the highest competitive level of professional fitness competitions and the most recognized championship in the world .
After 17 years of competition , Myriam Capes competed at The Olympia in September 2017 , for the 9th time after coming back from a shoulder dislocation in 2016 where she needed to pull out 5 weeks before The Olympia . Her comeback to the most prestigious competition in Bodybuilding and Fitness not only earned her a 2nd place finish but also established her as the only Canadian to have ever ranked among the top 5 for more than 5 times in a row with over 20 world titles undoubtedly made her an internationally renowned Fitness athlete and Icon .
2018 was a decisive year , retiring at the top of her fitness career placing in the top 3 at the Olympia . Myriam Capes , the athlete , is living proof that with discipline , hard work and dedication , anything is possible .
Myriam continues to devote her life to the fitness community and the Canadian Physique Alliance organizing the Mimi Capes Classic Championships in Montreal , Quebec where she promotes the sport of bodybuilding and fitness .
