HOW TO DEAL WITH CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM
Strategies for Receiving Criticism :
- Identify the right people to receive feedback from : ideally someone who is honest , impartial , and truly wants to see you improve , i . e ., coach , mentor
- Ask specific questions : ask the tough questions , i . e . given my structure , how do I create a wider illusion on stage ? What do I need to adjust in my conditioning ? How do I pose to hide my weaknesses ? How do I make my good poses look better ?
- Listen : rather than becoming defensive and immediately disputing the feedback , sit back , listen , and simply take it in . The more viewpoints the better , as it may help identify a recurring theme .
- Ask clarifying questions : Try to understand first and then process the feedback . Ask for suggestions to improve : Keep in mind that other peoples ’ input still need to align with your goals to be considered relevant
To level up , you need to become skilled in objectively sifting through feedback and finding the messages that will produce positive results and feelings , maintain motivation as well as stable confidence .
Remember : you cannot control who delivers the message or how it was delivered . However , you can control how you receive the message and what you do with the feedback once it is received .

- Implement and execute your action plan : Once you create a plan , put it into action .
Is it possible that you might get feedback that is NOT really helpful , which is not coming from someone who really knows what they ’ re talking about in this area ? Yes , but listen anyway and always ask yourself if there is SOME validity to the comments and if there ’ s something you could still use as a learning opportunity .
Also , keep in mind that not everyone is skilled in providing objective feedback . And sometimes , criticism is just criticism .
