Play-Doh Mind by Lesley Timbol

Sometimes you feel down . It happens . You try and try and try but to no avail . Nothing changes . Why bother putting in the effort if you don ’ t get the desired results ? Because it ’ s not time to give up !
You got knocked down . Now you have a choice : stay down or get up .
I have news for you . You are not done !
There ’ s at least one trophy with YOUR name on it that you have not won yet . First , you need to earn it . You need to put in the work , the time , the effort , the consistency day in and day out .
Keep in mind that many if not most of the shows in which you compete , you won ’ t win . In fact , you may get crushed by your competition .
Ask yourself this : does that discourage you from trying again or does that light a fire under your ass ?
There can only be one winner . Someone will win . And that someone could be you but you have to be willing to fail repeatedly before that happens .
So you do everything you ’ re supposed to do to prep for the show . You hire and follow everything your coach asks you to do . You follow the meal plan to a “ t ”. You push yourself in every training session . You even avoided social media for the most part .
But you didn ’ t win .
Did you miss something ? You brought the best look you ’ ve ever presented on stage . But you didn ’ t win . The judges scored someone else ’ s best ever look better than yours . The judges don ’ t see how heavy / intense you train . They can only judge what ’ s presented before them onstage .
Now this is where everything can change . Do you judge yourself strictly on your placing ?
And if so , HOW do you judge yourself ? Do you call yourself negative names , i . e . , “ loser ’, “ pathetic ” for not winning ?
If so , STOP RIGHT THERE !
What you learn from perceived “ failures ” can be sculpted like play-doh into lessons and directions leading to an even better creation .
There ’ s a difference between quitting and taking time to reformulate the strategy . But be aware that there could be a lot of fog before you can see more clearly . Sometimes time and speaking with a respected mentor or individual can help you see the clarity .
Remember your dream .
Remember why you chose to compete .
Remember the taste of success will be sweeter knowing the road was full of sour potholes .
Command your fears and insecurities into that caged corner of your mind .
The time is now . It ’ s YOUR time . Keep your head held high . Narrow your eyes and focus .
Carve your play-doh mind with a passion and persistent drive to be consistent , focused , disciplined , and relentless !
