• All competitors who compete at any of our
Natural and Open Regional shows this year
will qualify to our 2020 Natural or Open Pro
Qualifiers.
• Those that do place in the top 3 at our
Natural and Open regional shows this
year will qualify to our natural or open
pro qualifiers this year and next year to
December 31st of 2021.
Dear Members:
Here we go again talking about the pandemic
and how it has affected the entire world and our
fitness community. This is one of those years
where the CPA does not have all the answers
regarding our scheduled Fall competitions.
To control the spread of the Coronavirus and
help to ensure the safety of the public we have
been adhering to government restrictions
imposed on us such as the size of gatherings
at our competitions, social distancing and so
on. In some cases, venues that were booked by
promoters across Canada are just not opening
this year and if they are it is with limited access
to their facility by our competitors, officials and
fans.
However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel
with gyms opening in many provinces and
promoters being innovative with the gathering
restrictions to ensure our Fall events are being
held in a safe environment. The bottom line is
we want to ensure all our CPA members have
an option to compete this year and qualify to
our Pro Qualifiers. To ensure both our open
and natural competitors have an opportunity
to compete we have combined many of our
open events with a natural contest on the same
weekend for competitors wanting to qualify in
either or both streams--this is an opportunity to
do it all on the one weekend.
The CPA has also revised its qualification
system for this year only to allow those who have
worked so diligently with the extra challenges of
working out with fitness centers being closed,
contests being rescheduled and restrictions
being imposed at the different venues across
Canada. The CPA with the approval of the NPC
and IFBB Pro League has made the following
changes to qualifications for this year only:
• We have also opened the qualification to
the 2020 Natural Canada and 2020 Ben
Weider Naturals pro qualifier allowing
all competitors from the 2020 Natural
Regional competitions and top 3 from all
natural 2019 Natural Regional Competitions
to qualify directly to both these
competitions.
• Top 5 from the 2019 Open Pro Qualifiers
and top 5 from the 2020 Natural Pro
Qualifiers qualify to the 2020 Open and
Natural Pro Qualifiers.
The opportunity this year to attain that elusive
IFBB Professional status can be the icing on the
cake during this challenging and unusual year.
Kudos to all athletes that have not given up in
the face of this pandemic and to our passionate
promoters who are putting athletes first and
providing an opportunity to compete.
The CPA, NPC, NPC Worldwide and IFBB Pro
League are a family of fitness enthusiasts
working together through this new world.
This year is the real test of our commitment,
conviction and strength that will allow us to
grow. Your support and positive understanding
have not gone unnoticed we look forward to
seeing you back on stage where you belong.
