Anybody can succeed and work at a high capacity when they feel good , but when difficult times come it is crucial to stick to your word . These are the times that matter most , because without consistency you will not get very far in reaching your goals , especially in this sport .
Getting ready for a show is something that requires accountability every minute of the day . From the intense weight training , to the mindnumbing cardio , to ignoring your hunger , all the way to getting enough sleep and still being responsible for your other daily tasks ; accountability is the only way you can do these things properly . There is no greater sense of fulfillment than knowing that you set out on a goal and gave it your absolute all to the best of your ability . Knowing that despite the outcome , you could not have done much more because you gave it your best effort .
If you lack in the area of self-accountability it takes time and effort to build it up . You must start by always keeping your word to others and yourself . If you say you are going to do something , you must do it no matter what . Start small , it could be something as simple as making it a goal to go for a 30-minute walk once a week and not skipping it . After this , set a second goal for your week .
After several goals are made , and they turn into daily goals , this will build up your accountability and allow you to reach your maximum potential . Not only will self-accountability help you become a much better athlete , but it will help you in all aspects of life . This sport can teach you so many great lessons . From learning that you can achieve things that may seem impossible at times by just having a relentless work ethic , to learning how to analyze , creating a plan and executing it when a plateau is reached . The important thing to remember is that when you make a promise to yourself , you must fulfill it no matter what the circumstance may be .
Although many individuals are able to do this at any point of the year , a lot of people are motivated by the start of a new year seeing as it is a calendar “ reset ” of sorts .
