What is his/her competitive history?
If the prospective Prep Coach you are considering has never stepped on stage as a competitor, then I
recommend you look for another option. No one can understand or appreciate the challenges one will
experience during a contest prep and I firmly believe that would limit anyone’s ability to be a
competent Prep Coach, I don’t care how many courses he/she has taken.
How long has he or she been a Prep Coach?
You can’t buy experience and nothing can replace it. Time in the game is earned and so valuable to both
the Prep Coach and more importantly you. Success leaves clues and if the prospective Prep Coach has
been in this industry, an industry that is ever changing, for over 10 years then you should definitely move
him or her to the top of your list.
