CANADIAN PHYSIQUE ALLIANCE FALL ISSUE SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER | Page 109
Juan: Wow that is spectacular! I am
sure it is not easy balancing
bodybuilding with a large family.
Tell us about some of the highlights
of your competition history in the
2000's and how you balanced your
personal life along with it.
Charlene: My competition history
includes spots on both the provincial
and national stage. I was pleased
to place third at nationals. Being on
stage means many hours of training,
special diets, and travel. All of my
competitions were a great experience for
the most part. The training was trying at
times, but very rewarding. Having a
young family, with many expenses of its
own can make competing a financial
stress. I was blessed with great people in
my life, sponsorships, and endless
support. I am grateful to my four boys
and hubby for their willingness to walk
this journey with me even when it meant
I need to focus a bit less on them and a
bit more on me. My successes are family
successes, as a result. Support from
those close to you is a huge factor in
being able to balance life with
competing.
