After another successful season for our
Freak Fitness athletes, earning another
102 top-3 placings and another 4 new
IFBB Pro cards, many of our athletes
have mentioned how different their
pre-contest diets were compared to
other competitors. Throughout their
prep, many of our athletes are asked,
“Are you allowed that in your diet?” or
“Does your coach know you’re eating
that?”
Backstage at shows, our athletes feel
somewhat uncomfortable as they
watch many of the other competitors
suffer - walking around like zombies,
deflated, exhausted, and complaining
about how they can’t get a pump. In
contrast, our Freak Fitness athletes are
eating potato chips, drinking pop (not
diet), and have to stop pumping up
early because they get blown up so
fast.

NUTRITION AND
TRAINING EFFORTS
NEED SODIUM!
Following a show, I get flooded with
messages about how good our
athletes looked despite their
“abnormal” eating and drinking
habits. Well, I’m going to fill you in
about one of our secrets… SODIUM!
Although different athletes require
different amounts of sodium, the
bottom line is that ALL athletes who
want to achieve optimum
performance and the best cosmetic
effect from their nutrition and
training efforts NEED sodium!
Now, I know we’ve all been told that
a high intake of sodium is bad for us.
And I agree, for the general
population who may suffer from high
blood pressure, may be overweight,
and inactive, following a diet that is
low in sodium is a very good practice.
Most of you reading this are hard
working athletes and there are a
number of reasons why you should
not be afraid of sodium:
