After another successful season for our Freak Fitness athletes, earning another 102 top-3 placings and another 4 new IFBB Pro cards, many of our athletes have mentioned how different their pre-contest diets were compared to other competitors. Throughout their prep, many of our athletes are asked, “Are you allowed that in your diet?” or “Does your coach know you’re eating that?” Backstage at shows, our athletes feel somewhat uncomfortable as they watch many of the other competitors suffer - walking around like zombies, deflated, exhausted, and complaining about how they can’t get a pump. In contrast, our Freak Fitness athletes are eating potato chips, drinking pop (not diet), and have to stop pumping up early because they get blown up so fast. ALL ATHLETES WHO WANT TO ACHIEVE OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE AND THE BEST COSMETIC EFFECT FROM THEIR NUTRITION AND TRAINING EFFORTS NEED SODIUM! Following a show, I get flooded with messages about how good our athletes looked despite their “abnormal” eating and drinking habits. Well, I’m going to fill you in about one of our secrets… SODIUM! Although different athletes require different amounts of sodium, the bottom line is that ALL athletes who want to achieve optimum performance and the best cosmetic effect from their nutrition and training efforts NEED sodium! Now, I know we’ve all been told that a high intake of sodium is bad for us. And I agree, for the general population who may suffer from high blood pressure, may be overweight, and inactive, following a diet that is low in sodium is a very good practice.
