In most cases, this occurs when a competitor decides to apply tanning on their own. In other cases, it’s the unofficial tanner or even the official tanner that must sometime take responsibility. Due diligence on the part of the competitor is first and foremost extremely important. Following the instructions from the official tanner for skin preparation is imperative; however, the official tanning representatives also have a responsibility to the clients and the promoter to ensure excellence. This is what the CPA and competitors expect from the official tanners. Tanning representatives should work hand-in-hand with the head judge during the competition to receive his/her feedback on the quality of the tans. It is the responsibility of the tanner to ensure athletes are properly tanned according to their category.  It is also important to note that regardless if the competitor is the tanner’s client or not, the tanners should ensure that every competitor’s tan meets the standard required for stage presentation. Those competitors that do not meet the minimum standard, regardless of being clients or not, show be helped as much as possible. Of course, at some point when these non-clients need more attention to their tans than the norm, extra fees should be applied. Lastly, communication between tanners and the head judge is imperative to ensure a quality show. This is an entertainment sport and we need to work together as a team to present each competitor in the best way possible. At all times, professionalism from both the competitors and the tanning companies is expected. Any complaints coming from the athlete's as well as the tanners will be investigated. Tanning companies who continue to be inconsistent with the tans will not be allowed to tan for the CPA. In closing, we want everyone to benefit and have a good experience at our events. I look forward to the 2019 season meeting with all of our partners and competitors for an exciting and successful year. e h c a Ron H President Canadian Physique Alliance
