The judges are assessing who has the best
balance of:
- Muscle size that best fits the particular division
- The genetic shape that centres around a small
waist
- The balance of proportions between the upper
and lower body, and between different body
parts
- Symmetry between both sides of the body
- The degree of conditioning that best fits the
particular division
- The consistency of conditioning between front
and back, upper and lower body
- Finishing touches such as hair, make-up, tan,
and fit of the suit
As you can see, the judges are assessing a lot of
things at once. It’s never just one of these
elements, like who’s the biggest or most
conditioned, that will ensure you a win. It is the
ultimate balance of all of these elements that are
used by the judging panel to declare who, on that
particular day amongst those particular athletes
on stage at that moment, is the winner.
What Judges DO NOT
Assess
Now, here’s what the judges do not pay attention
to, do not care about, and do not take into
consideration, when comparing the athletes that
are on stage in front of them:
