video critique
Video Critiques will be available
at all shows across Canada this
year.
They are a definitive tool in
attaining a judge’s critique on
your physique and presentation
on stage.
We asked A competitor to define
how a video critique helped
them achieve their goals on
stage.
Anthonie Fallone says “ As an
athlete this is one of the most
beneficial tools to becoming
more competitive and setting
your focus on what needs to be
improved on. During the 2017
offseason my critique from
the Ontario Championships
addressed a few aspects of my
physique and posing which I
was able to improve for my 2018
competition year. After my first
show of the 2018 season placing
5th, I was complimented on
my physique changes but it
was noted that my posing was
responsible my lower placing.
After receiving my Critique I was
able to address the changes
the judges wanted to see in my
posing and I took 1st and the
Overall at my next show only
a week later. This is a prime
example of why the video
critiques are so important to
improve your placings. I truly
believe that my win the following
weekend was backed by the
information I got from my video
critique.”
Anthonie’s was a relatively easy
fix, some may not be as quick
or easy to accomplish. Critiques
will reveal your weaknesses more
than a conversation or even a
photo after the show. They show
all aspects of your presentation
on stage.
Potential defincies in what
the judges may reveal about
your physique will take time to
correct. Our advice, have your
coach watch and listen to your
critique. You can then make a
plan for future competions with
those changes in mind.
In 2019 we rendered over 700
critiques and had most delivered
immediately after the shows.
Competitors took them to heart.
Even when they did not like what
the judges had to say they would
strive to accomplish the changes.
Some ordered another critique
just to ensure the new criteria
worked for them.
The benefit is not just for the
amateur competitor, pros will
generally always ask for a critique
of some sort. Video critiques have
been and always been available
to anyone who asks. Our judges,
nationally and internationally
ranked as well as being well
respected around the world are
able to offer critiques at any level.
