Joshua ’ s newest single , “ Wishing You Were Still Here ,” a song nspired by some of the 2000 ’ s most influential artists , delivers a modern twist on musical inspiration from musicians like Usher , Ginuwine , and Diddy . Giving fans a danceable yet mellow R & B soundscape , he reflects on all the good times he had in a past relationship ; a stark contrast to a dismissive trend of only seeing the negative aspects from a previous romance .
Oghenerukevwe Jegede-Ikpen , popularly known by his stage name Rooky , started out listening to a wide range of music from by his parents , ranging from Afro high life , ‘ 70s and ‘ 80s pop music , and soul . Rooky says that singing in his church choir as a young boy helped shape his sound dexterity . He uses his music to describe how you can bounce between exhilaration , euphoria , and increased energy during the summer and the embodiment of positivity . As an indie artist , Rooky records and produces his own music . He performs live regularly at festivals and events in Saskatchewan with his band , the BAD HVBITS .
Rooky ’ s newest release is a three-track project titled Summer 22 . The three cuts combine rhythmic summer energy with thoughts and emotions expressed melodiously . The project is essentially a collection of Rooky ’ s thoughts and feelings about events chronicling the summer , and was born from Rooky ’ s pondering of the nostalgia of summer in pre-Covid times and how nobody is sure when we ’ ll get those relaxed summer vibes again .

Soul Filter is a four-piece alternative rock / pop band formed in 2017 in Prince Edward Island by husband and wife duo of Karen and Mike Penton . The former is a singersongwriter who gets her writing inspiration from artist like Alanis Morissette , The Cranberries , and Sheryl Crow . In 2019 , Soul Filter were voted into CBC Searchlight ’ s Top 100 and in 2020 their debut album , A Minor Conspiracy , was nominated for Music PEI ’ s Rock Recording of the Year .
The band recently released their latest single , “ The City Knows ,” as part of Music PEI ’ s Golden Ticket program . Produced by John Angus MacDonald of The Trews , “ The City Knows ” is a high energy , true-to-life dark fairy-tale about a small-town girl trying to make it in the big city and facing the sobering reality of self-doubt . The band describes the song as a mix of the introspective confessional lyrics of Fleetwood Mac and the anthemic intensity of Florence + The Machine .
