‘ Music Video Production Project ’ Surpasses $ 1M in Funding for Canadian Artists
RBC and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television have announced that they surpassed $ 1 million in funding towards the creation and production of music videos through the Music Video Production ( MVP ) Project . This milestone coincides with round eight of the program , in which grants were awarded to 12 teams of emerging Canadian musicians and filmmakers . Since its inception in 2018 , the joint initiative between RBCxMusic and the Prism Prize has awarded 86 grants to emerging artists to support the creation of 58 music videos to date .
“ Being able to work with likeminded artists to create visual accompaniment to our work is a blessing for us ,” says New Brunswick ’ s Motherhood . “ Music videos have been instrumental in promoting our music and finding a wider listenership . We love exercising the visual side of our creative muscles and we can ’ t wait to flex this video on y ’ all .”

David Foster to be Inducted to the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in September
The Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame ( CSHF ) has announced that one of the most successful songwriters of all-time , David Foster , is its newest 2022 inductee . The B . C . -born music veteran has written chart-topping international hits and culture-defining soundtracks for blockbuster films like The Bodyguard , Urban Cowboy , and St . Elmo ’ s Fire , as well as classic holiday albums for Michael Bublé , Josh Groban , and Celine Dion to name a few .
Foster has won 16 Grammy Awards , including three for Producer of the Year , an Emmy Award , a Golden Globe , and racked up three Oscar nominations for “ Best Original Song .” For his remarkable catalogue of work spanning more than four decades , he will be honoured during the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame Gala on Sept . 24 th at Massey Hall in Toronto . Friends of Foster , including R & B icon Deborah Cox and Chicago ’ s Neil Donell , will perform his hit songs ; while several additional performers such as Maurice Moore , winner of the 2021 SOCAN Foundation Black Canadian Music Award , and Juno-nominee Ruby Waters have been added to the star-studded tributes for

David Foster , Bryan Adams , Jim Vallance , Alanis Morrisette , and recently announced French language inductee Daniel Lavoie . It was also recently announced that global star Olivia Rodrigo will present Alanis Morissette with her induction honour .

Arkells Receive 2022 Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour at Canada ’ s Walk of Fame Gala
Canada ’ s Walk of Fame has announced that eight-time Juno Award-winning rock group Arkells are the recipients of the 2022 Allan Slaight Music Impact Honour in recognition of their positive impact on others and contributions to the community .
This summer , Arkells ( Max Kerman , Mike DeAngelis , Nick Dika , Tim Oxford , and Anthony Carone ) brought their hometown summer festival event “ The Rally ,” back to Hamilton , ON . It ’ s one of the biggest headlining shows in the country and the 2022 edition of The Rally at Tim Hortons Field broke attendance records at the stadium , with $ 1 from every ticket sold benefiting Indwell , a local organization
