Women in Music Canada Directory Now Open Women in Music Canada is inviting the hundreds of women and underrepresented gender identity artists and industry professionals across Canada to register for its new , official Women in Music Canada Directory . The aim is for the directory to be a valuable resource not only to identify and connect with other women and underrepresented gender identity professionals across our country , but also a great way to expand one ’ s professional network and gain more career opportunities .
Women in Music Canada is a registered non-profit organization and one of the largest music industry associations in Canada . It ’ s dedicated to fostering gender equality in the music industry through the support and advancement of femaleidentifying professionals and creatives at all stages of their careers . The goal is to strengthen the social-economic balance of the music industry by providing professional development , support , and resources for the community .

BREAKOUT WEST CONFERENCE
BreakOut West 2022 Set for Calgary The Western Canadian Music Alliance will be holding the 20 th edition of BreakOut West in 2022 . This edition of the music festival and conference will be held in Calgary from Sept . 28 to Oct . 2 , 2022 .
“ As a past president with BreakOut West and now working with Alberta Music as interim executive director , I couldn ’ t be more excited to have the event coming to Calgary ,” says Christine Rogerson . “ Following the tough years our industry has seen recently , we are keen to enliven the music community in Calgary , bringing original , live music safely to venues and fans .”
In partnership with Tourism Calgary , the Province of Alberta , and the National Music Centre , BreakOut West will return to the city after having previously celebrated there in 2004 and 2013 . Venues throughout Calgary ’ s downtown core and in the Music Mile will welcome musicians from across western Canada and internationally .

CIMA Seeking Members News for Weekly Newsletter The Canadian Independent Music Association ( CIMA ) is featuring news from its member companies in its weekly newsletter . Members of CIMA who have an announcement about their company , a recent artist release / livestream , a new artist deal , an online webinar they ’ re organizing or participating in , etc ., are invited to complete the form at the website below .

Submissions Being Accepted for the Black Canadian Music Awards The SOCAN Foundation is accepting submissions for the Black Canadian Music Awards until Oct . 15 , 2022 . The Black Canadian Music Awards is made possible through a joint partnership with SiriusXM Canada . This award is designed to celebrate extraordinary Black music creators that are Canadian .
Submissions to the talent competition can be from all genres of music . Canadian citizens who identify as Black and are the original creators of their musical submissions are eligible to apply to the talent competition . In the case a collective use for the award , all music creators must meet the eligibility criteria .
Up to five awards valued at up to $ 5,000 each will be granted to the finalists . All submissions will be reviewed by a jury composed of Black artists / industry leaders in the Canadian music industry .
The competition is open to music creators who are of Black descent . If the applicant is a collective / band , all members must meet the eligibility criteria . Candidates must be Canadian and SOCAN members or Canadians who are not members of any performing rights organization . Submissions must be original and composed within two years of the application deadline . Arrangements are not eligible . The applicants must submit musical examples in which they have contributed towards the creation

MUSIC / MUSIQUE NB ’ S ( 506 ) CONFERENCE
Music NB hosting Conference ( 506 ) in Two Separate Segments Music • Musique NB is hosting Conference ( 506 ) in Moncton this fall , in two separate segments . The first , called In Theory , takes place on Sept . 16-18 , 2022 , and is for selected artists only . The second , In Practice , takes place on Oct . 21-22 and is for the whole music industry .
Conference ( 506 ) is a multi-stage program that helps emerging and developing artists build sustainable careers in the music industry . The association says the province is teaming with musical talent , far exceeding the infrastructure and professional resources available . Conference ( 506 ) aims to give artists the tools to achieve the next step in their careers .
An artist must be a current member of Music · Musique NB to be selected for Conference ( 506 ). If selected , they are expected to take part in all programmed events . Music · Musique NB encourages submissions from members of diverse communities , including Indigenous artists , artists of colour , artists with disabilities , artists from the LG-
